Sole

Is the amount of Sole I use daily dependent on my body weight?

No, the daily amount of Sole used is not dependent on body weight. Adults will use 1 teaspoon. of Sole each morning. The exception to this rule pertains to children. A few drops of Sole is sufficient for children under 55 lbs. Children over 55 lbs. can start on ¼ teaspoon of Sole and work up to 1 teaspoon as an adult.

Do coffee, black teas, green tea or herbal teas have a negative impact on using Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole?

One of the primary benefits of drinking the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole in the morning is the balancing of your body’s pH level. Coffee, black tea, and green tea are all acidic and known diuretics, depleting your body of hydration. By drinking these beverages in the morning, you will partly cancel out the benefit of the Sole. Therefore, please wait to drink coffee, green tea, or black teas at least 60 minutes after consuming Sole.

Can I also take the one teaspoon of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole concentrate undiluted, without adding it to a glass of water?

Yes, you can also take one teaspoon of the concentrated sole undiluted. However, you should drink a glass of water directly after taking the concentrated sole.

Can I make Sole using the Fine/Coarse Granulated Salt?

While the quality of the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt remains the same no matter what grind you choose, it is recommended that you use the stones for making Sole. The reason for this is that the more you refine (read: grind) salt, the more information you lose. With information lost, you are not receiving the full benefits that you would using the Stones to make your Sole because the finer ground salts do not have the same high concentration levels of the 84 trace minerals as the Stones. Also, with the smaller grinds of salt, especially Fine Granulated, there is a chance of floating salt particles in your Sole, thereby increasing your daily salt intake. These particles are also not part of the Sole solution as they have not been absorbed by the water yet. This is not the case when using the Stones.

If you do prefer using the Fine or Coarse Granulated to make Sole, it is advised that you use an extremely wide mouth glass jar. Be sure to mark the jar clearly "DO NOT STIR" so as not to stir up salt particles before taking your Sole. Fill the jar a third of the way with the salt and then fill up with a good quality water. Let sit 8 hours or overnight before use.

What water should I use for making Sole?

Ideally, Natural Artesian water is best. Other options include spring water from your local vicinity (bring your bottles to the spring and fill them up!). If these two options are not available, please use filtered water. Do not use unfiltered tap water, mineral water, carbonated water or distilled water for making Sole as these can be chemically processed, which changes the water’s crystalline structure, resulting in energetic changes.

Can I take more than one teaspoon of Sole a day?

One teaspoon of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole on an empty stomach every morning provides you not only with the biophysical aspect of the salt, which is the frequency pattern of the crystal salt, but also the biochemical aspect of the salt, containing sufficient minerals and trace elements. The body will hold the frequency pattern of the crystal salt sole for 24 hours. Therefore, we only take the sole once per day on an empty stomach.

Can I drink the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole in the evening instead of in the morning?

The benefits of the Sole therapy are best realized when taken on an empty stomach. You can also do the Sole therapy in the evening but you should keep this rhythm as the body maintains the frequency pattern of the salt for 24 hours.

Can I give Sole to my children?

Yes, a few drops of Sole is sufficient for children under 55 lbs. Children over 55 lbs. can start on ¼ teaspoon of Sole and work up to 1 teaspoon as an adult.

Can sole also be given to animals?

Just as with humans, the natural crystal salt will have its positive effect on the animal body. A few drops of Sole in your pet's food will increase the vitality and help strengthen the immune system of your pet or animal.

Can I use the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole therapy along with my fasting?

The Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole therapy is a good complement to fasting. It helps to eliminate the toxins and also provides vitality and support to your body as it labors to rid itself of toxins. Just be sure to drink sufficient amounts of water while fasting.

Are there any negative side-effects when drinking Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole regularly over a long period?

No, there are not. In fact, it can be a daily part of your routine to optimize your overall health and well-being in conjunction with a healthy diet. One teaspoon of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole contains approximately 478mg of sodium as well as other trace minerals needed by your body. This very small amount of salt has an incredibly positive effect on your whole body. An exception to this rule is when the kidneys are not functioning properly. When in doubt, please consult with your doctor.

I was advised to be on a low sodium diet, can I still use Sole or the Original Himalayan Crystal Salts?

The RDA for sodium is 2,300 mg per day. This is the amount that the human body needs for normal bodily functions. The average American consumes 3,400 mg of sodium, with most of this coming from processed foods. 1 teaspoon of Sole contains only 478 mg of sodium, less than 1/4 of the recommended daily allowance and therefore is beneficial as part of your low sodium requirements. The best way to reduce your sodium intake is to avoid processed foods.

Is it safe to take Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole when pregnant?

Unless your doctor has told you to eliminate all salt from your diet, there’s no reason to have any apprehensions about taking a teaspoon of Sole each day. It’s mostly the sodium that doctors warn patients about. The average American adult consumes about 3,400mg of sodium daily, derived from processed, poisonous salt. The USDA recommends no more than 2,300mg per day of sodium. Based on these facts, most Americans are using excessive amounts of sodium.

One teaspoon of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole contains about 478mg of unprocessed, natural sodium. The USDA also states that the body absolutely requires a minimum of 500mg of sodium per day just to live. Sodium is fundamental to our very existence. In fact, we could not live without it. This makes Sole an ideal source of sodium to help achieve your daily need.

Does Sole contain any heavy metals, such as mercury, arsenic, lead, aluminum, etc.?

Unless your doctor has told you to eliminate all salt from your diet, there’s no reason to have any apprehensions about taking a teaspoon of Sole each day. It’s mostly the sodium that doctors warn patients about. The average American adult consumes about 3,400mg of sodium daily, derived from processed, poisonous salt. The USDA recommends no more than 2,300mg per day of sodium. Based on these facts, most Americans are using excessive amounts of sodium.

There is not any evidence of accumulation of heavy metals occurring in the body by using our Original Himalayan Crystal Salt or Sole.

Can the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole solution go bad? How should it be stored?

Sole can be kept indefinitely. It will never go bad. It can be kept anywhere. It doesn’t have to be refrigerated nor kept in the dark. However, it is recommended to keep it in a closed, glass container to keep it free from dust and other airborne particles. Use a glass jar with a glass stop versus metal or plastic jars and lids so the harmful effects of the metal or plastic do not leach into the Sole.

It says not to let plastic come into contact with my Original Himalayan Crystal Salt®. What kind of lid should I use for my Sole jar?

We do not recommend using plastic or metal lids for your sole jar. Plastic will alter the molecular structure of the salt, and metal will alter the biodynamic energy of the salt. Plus, salt corrodes metal.

If you do not have a glass or ceramic top for your jar, we recommend securing a clean cloth to the top of the jar with a rubber band to keep dust out.

One can often find reddish deposits at the bottom of the container of the concentrated Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole solution. What is this?

Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® is a natural product and subject to changes in concentration of its elements held within the crystalline structure. Not all minerals are represented in a 100% ionized form. These deposits represent minerals that were not included in the geometric matrix of the salt crystal. These minerals are in an inorganic form which fall to the bottom of the container when the salt crystal dissolves. The deposits are totally harmless.

Can I use the same Sole solution for washing my eyes more than one time?

Never. After an eye bath, you will find many bacteria have been washed from your eyes and are now in your solution. Therefore, only use the solution once.

Can I use a higher concentration of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® Sole solution for frequent hand and foot bathing?

Yes, you can. However, if there a re open wounds, one should always prepare a fresh solution. It’s also possible to warm it to body temperature, 98.6 F.

I have very severe varicose veins and have been told to avoid warm bathing. Does this also apply to crystal salt bathing?

By all means, you should adhere to your doctor’s recommendation. Warm bathwater causes vascular expansion. This is also the case with a crystal salt bath.

Salt

There was a lot of press about Himalayan Salt having too much fluoride. Is that true?

First, that article was posted by sellers of other types of salt which they claim had lower levels, and was meant to scare you away from other sources of salt (so they would make more money!). Secondly, we cannot comment on all sources of Himalayan Salt but we can state that Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® is completely safe and is unadulterated from its original source. Please take a look at the Certificate of Analysis we did in 2008 when these articles came out. The COA shows that there is <0.1 g/kg of fluoride. When you translate this into the amount found in a box of the OHCS, this is less than 1 mg of fluoride per box! To put this in perspective, one single strip of fluoride based toothpaste that you normally use twice a day contains 0.75-1.5 mg of fluoride.

How much Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® should I put in my body each day?

The human body needs as little as 500mg of sodium per day or 1/4 teaspoon of Original Himalayan Crystal Salt®. The USDA recommends no more than 2,300mg of sodium per day (based on a 2,000 calorie diet). But, we tend to use too much salt. According to the FDA, the average American uses 3,400mg per day. As opposed to refined table salt, you can use Original Himalayan Crystal Salt® more freely because of its holistic properties which make it easy for the body to assimilate. Enjoy your Sole (1 teaspoon) in the morning and season your food to taste as you like. Individuals on dialysis, or with high blood pressure, should generally follow a lower sodium diet and the use of Sole and OHCS for cooking can be the ideal way to achieve the body’s sodium needs while staying within your doctor’s recommendations.

What kind of salt shaker should I use with my Fine Granulated Himalayan Crystal Salt?

Salt shakers of a natural fiber (glass, ceramic, wood or bamboo) should be used with the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt.

Plastic and acrylic salt shakers can alter the molecular structure of the salt. Never use a metal salt shaker.

Does an acrylic salt mill harm the quality of the salt?

Only salt mills and grinders having metal grinding mechanisms will cause a reaction with the salt. Ceramic mills and grinders are recommended.

Can I use the Original Himalayan Crystal Salt Stones in my salt grinder/mill?

No. The Stones are extremely tough and will more than likely break your grinder. We recommend using the Coarse Granulated Himalayan Crystal Salt in your salt mill. If you would like to use the stones for cooking, we recommend breaking them into smaller pieces using a hammer or a durable mortar and pestle.

Can I use the Original Himalayan Crystal Bath Salts on my food?

No. While all our salt products are the same quality in that they retain the bioenergetics of the Crystal Salt and the 84 trace minerals, the Original Himalayan Crystal Bath Salts have not been prepared for consumption. Only food grade salts (the Fine Granulated, Coarse Granulated, and Crystal Stones) may be ingested.

What do I store the extra Salt I can’t fit into my shaker/salt mill in?

You can keep your Original Himalayan Crystal Salt in the original cloth bag you received it in, or in another container of a natural fiber (ceramic or glass would be best). Do not use a plastic container.
